Following the incredible news out of Australia about a dog who survived four months on a desert island, another miraculous survival story has come up. This time, it’s about a near-deaf dog who survived a stroke, then got lost for five weeks before being found and reunited with his owners.
Oliver was 12 and a half years old when he wandered off on one of his walks. His family searched for hours, but had eventually given up and went home. They figured he went off to die, since he had a stroke a couple months earlier and the vet said he could go at any time.
To their surprise, Oliver was foundĀ miles away from where he wondered off. He was very hungry and thirsty, and after his rescuer fed him and gave him water, the man washed off Oliver’s dog tags to see the contact information of his owners.
The owners were ecstatic to hear that Oliver had been found, and he’s now safe back at home. The only thing that has changed is he has a new nickname. Now, his owners call him “Wonderdog.”
Here’s a clip of some other animals that were lost in the woods, but eventually found their way out. They traveled a lot further than Oliver, but had each other to help them along the way. Of course, it always helps to have a cat who can fish for you.
