An ultra-cute litter of Yorkshire Terrier puppies were born recently with the help of a chat room and streaming video from Ustream. While the mother of the puppies was in labor, video was streaming over the Internet and people were able to give advice during the event.
Some veterinarians were in the chat room and gave their expert advice about what to do during the birth. The owner of the puppies said advice telling them to make sure the sac was broken once the puppies were out was very helpful.
The chat room was also helpful because the owners went to bed after four puppies were born. They thought that was the entire litter, but found out from some frantic calls later that the mother was still giving birth. Without the live streaming video, the owners wouldn’t have known to go back in and help with the fifth puppy.
It’s amazing to see streaming video and chat rooms making a positive impact on society. People are able to use these as tools to help them in their personal lives.
There was such a positive response in the chat room, that now the owners are allowing Ustream users to name the puppies. There are five puppies to name and if you want your two cents thrown in, make sure to visit the site.
The streaming puppies can be seen below. I’m not sure how long the owners will keep the video going, but as long as the stream is up, the video below should work.
